INTRODUCTION

The SVP / General Manager, Consumer Direct will be responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction for all consumer products and services on behalf of our multichannel client. Through oversight and interactions with the product management, engineering, marketing, sales, support and finance, this individual will own and execute the roadmap for existing and future products that will allow our client to become the recognized leader within the direct-to-consumer segment in their vertical.

This GM will have full P&L responsibilities for the worldwide Consumer Direct Business Unit. As the head of this $400M organization, the GM will improve the timeline of introducing new products from idea to launch; build and manage a management team that ensures alignment across functional/geo and segments while driving results for mobile products, partner with sales on GTM strategy to meet or exceed plan, evaluate the current team to identify skill gaps and bring high quality people to the organization; and be a key member of the executive management team.

The Consumer Direct GM will drive the process of portfolio management, and identify new opportunities for product expansion through organic means and acquisition. The individual will also be the key leader in developing a go-to-market plan for current and new product releases to maximize market awareness, penetration, and ultimate success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take a strategic view of the Consumer Direct marketing and commerce landscape, keeping current with industry best practices and trends.
  • Lead and motivate a talented team of Consumer Direct professionals providing vision, direction and guidance.
  • Work with the Executive Management Committee to define the corporate direct-to-consumer strategy
  • Oversee the day-to-day Consumer Direct operations, maintenance, and performance measurement of the company’s sales and marketing platforms
  • Interpret quantitative data, extracting accurate conclusions and identifying web usage trends
  • Stay well versed in all aspects of e-retail, including organic and paid searches, multiple landing pages, infrastructure, data center and back-end operations, product and software lifecycle, customer acquisition and retention, competitive research, creative design and fulfillment
  • Optimize the experience on existing sites to improve conversion and increase repeat purchases
  • Strategically and profitably expand Consumer Direct into additional regions and countries
  • Manage a large P&L across different brands and regions
  • Oversee the implementation and utilization of database marketing program to drive brand loyalty and sales
  • Build and maintain relationships with outside suppliers and partners in order to contribute to the efficient operation of the organization
  • Oversee concept development, strategizing, planning, implementation, and coordinating of Consumer Direct initiatives
  • Contribute to the product strategy for the Company’s online services
  • Maintain a smooth production process, enabling the efficient handling of hundreds of updates and improvements to the sites’ functionality and design throughout each season
  • Continue to drive a multi-channel focus, presenting a unified, customer-centric view of the firm’s products and brands, consistent across the brick-and-mortar and digital spaces
  • Lead web merchandising, digital marketing design, operations, analytics and development teams
  • Collaborate with IT on the back-end of the eCommerce technical architecture, including the OS implementation/maintenance which will affect eCommerce functionality
  • Manage large vendor contracts, and partner with additional third-party providers to identify and apply solutions as needed for site experience improvement and operational optimization
  • Influence the fulfillment and returns handling aspects of the eCommerce business, in partnership with the operations & logistics. Assist in decisions related to packaging, delivery options and service levels
  • Frame and map opportunities based on historical results & current trends to maximize sales
  • Develop strategies to deliver financial plans (sales, margin, contribution, inventory turns)
  • Partner with Finance, Marketing, S&OP and company-owned brands to forecast monthly sales, margins, review financial results and develop action plans to improve
  • Perform other duties as required

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate should be a customer-focused, highly analytical, and results oriented professional with world-class strategic insights, technical skills, and team leadership experience.
  • They should be a high impact executive with a proven track record of growing revenue, entering new markets, and driving effective collaboration between cross functional teams.
  • The ideal candidate will have significant executive management experience with a focus on the consumer market, including mobile.
  • They will have led a major product category with multiple product lines that have produced significant sustainable growth in the direct-t0-consumer segment.
  • This person will have created and implemented a proven management process that has resulted in shortening the time to launch from concept to product introduction.
  • The candidate will bring experience creating short and long-term product roadmaps as well as have the skills to lead teams on a successful execution of the roadmap.
  • This individual will have had overall business experience with sales and marketing and strong proven skills in product management as well as accelerating time to market.
  • It is critical they have a successful track record in managing fast-growth enterprises, setting the product organization’s goals and objectives, and meeting those targets timely.
  • This person must be able to connect and give direction to product development teams on customer and market requirements with rich content input.
  • As a key member of the Executive team, the General Manager is a charismatic leader with excellent executive presentation and business communication skills. This role is highly visible both internally and externally, and all Executive staff members are expected to be strong presenters.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelors degree from a Top 20 university in the field of computer science, business administration, marketing or another rigorous discipline. An advanced degree (MBA, MS, etc.) in one these fields is a strong plus.
