POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Supply Chain & Operations Planning is responsible for developing the strategies, people, processes, technologies, and measurements to enable each business unit to effectively plan the material, production, and inventory to deliver exceptional service to our client’s customers, favorable business performance to the company and resolve supply chain issues.

Our client is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of residential and commercial water heating equipment as well as a supplier of water purification products in a number of emerging countries. With manufacturing operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, India, and Europe, they have the global reach to serve customers worldwide. Managing the supply chain is key to their success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all production, inventory, and capacity planning to support overall immediate and long-term business objectives for all NA business units
  • Leads a team that develops, executes, and monitors planning strategies implemented within the enterprise resource planning system to meet service level and inventory objectives. This would include material planning, production planning, production scheduling, and finished goods planning.
  • Develops, communicates, and executes strategies to advance from a decentralized planning structure to a collaborative centralized planning organization within all NA business units.
  • Lead the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning process and develop scenarios in conjunction with finance to recommend to the executive team.
  • Works closely with demand planning to receive the unconstrained demand plan at the proper level within the business and product hierarchy.
  • Serves as Supply Chain & Operations Planning leader for all NA business units to implement improved business processes and results based on key initiatives identified.
  • Works collaboratively with internal business partners to effectively utilize manufacturing capacity and improve inventory management along with other business processes based on best practices.
  • Develops a strong working relationship with business partners, and obtains a thorough functional knowledge of the supply chain, performance measures and information flows.
  • Delivers improved business results in order fill rate performance, inventory turns, slow moving and obsolete inventory and other metrics through process improvement work. Provides early identification of problems, advises senior management of risks and recommends options and/or corrective action.
  • Monitors teams’ performance, provides feedback and development opportunities.
  • Accountable for overall supply planning performance results.
  • Support the manufacturing locations with long term operations, inventory, and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure that required inputs are provided for a successful financial reconciliation meeting within the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning Process.
  • Utilize Lean tools to develop and continuously improve standardized planning processes and collaborate with all functional areas to drive efficiencies across the business.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to implement seamless material transitions or new product introductions with minimal obsolescence.
  • Actively manage, reduce, and disposition the slow moving and obsolete inventory balances.
  • Ensures the use of capacity utilization models for the manufacturing network using projections incorporating short and long-term production plans.
  • Supports and provides direction for new business capacity models in conjunction with the required analysis.
  • Serves as the supply chain and operations planning and SAP planning subject matter expert.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required; MBA is a bonus
  • 10+ years related experience in Supply Chain & Operations Planning
  • 10+ years experience in leading a team
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Experience working with Lean concepts and tools
  • Leadership experience at the corporate level of a large company
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Proficient in SAP, Data Analytic Tools, and Microsoft Office Suite Products
  • Demonstrated experience working with all management levels up through the executive level
  • High energy style, flexible and adaptive, with the ability to work well at all levels in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work/operate independently with minimal oversight, but with focused objectives and discipline to obtain results.
