Our client’s Marketing Analytics team combines critical thinking, creative problem solving and statistical rigor to surface actionable insights and advance revenue driving opportunities for the company.  The team builds data-driven, customer-centric measurement constructs that enable marketers to focus on innovative efforts having the highest overall impact across their North America and International business units.

As the Marketing Analytics Manager, you will participate across the entire innovation life-cycle, from ensuring that we design the right experiments to determining the lift and scale of each innovation.  In addition, and in partnership with the Data Analytics Director, you will advance several fundamental analytic areas, such as attribution, customer long-term value, retention, and acquisition.  While this is a cross-channel role, you will have a stronger alignment with the Digital Advertising channel.  This role has the potential to manage direct reports.

KEY ROLE OBJECTIVES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform analyses independently, in cooperation with your team and the Data Science team across a range of strategic marketing and sales topics for our client.  Examples include keyword bid optimization, CLV measurement, optimizing the marginal dollar spent, and marketing channel performance optimization.
  • Establish KPIs and goals; specify reports and dashboards for the Reporting team.
  • Maintain standards for tracking and measurement; guide those in control of tracking code to specify and QA it properly. Maintain excellent practice and technical standards.
  • Ensure alignment of the client’s channel attribution model with their business objectives, and with as rigor commensurate with how they make spending decisions.
  • Directly, and through your team, help the marketing channel owners optimize return on their effort and spending through analysis, controlled experiments, pseudo-experiments, and pre-post analyses.
  • Personally present findings and recommendations for action to your peers in other functions, and to senior leaders of the company, and support the individual contributors on your team to do the same for their work.
  • As manager of the Marketing Analytics team, cultivate the talented individual contributors on your team to grow their own analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of industry experience in marketing analytics, customer analytics or data science role.
  • 2-3  years SQL experience in an industry setting.
  • Ideal candidates will possess an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline, e.g., Math, Statistics, Physics, Operations Research, Economics, etc., from a top tier school.
  • Understanding of the full range of online marketing channels, principles of multi-touch attribution, web analytics.
  • Fluency in pixel and API based data transfers.
  • Experience with report prototyping.
  • Strong SQL skills and Hive fluency.
  • Proficiency with at least one statistical package, or the Python libraries commonly used in data science.
  • Excellent critical thinker with strong quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrably strong communication skills: truly knows what it means to assemble a story from data and can easily explain how and demonstrate it.
  • Strong listening skills as well as the skills to persuade particularly based on evidence.
  • Thorough experience designing and analyzing experiments in a variety of circumstances, including eCommerce.
