Our client, a global manufacturer / producer of specialty products with multiple sales and marketing channels, seeks an accomplished Director of eCommerce Operations. In this new role, you will be responsible for both leading and managing the operations teams of our client’s E-Commerce division including fulfillment, supply chain, quality and safety. You will be key member of our client’s senior management team reporting to the division head and General Manager. You will grow teams and people, create new facilities and capabilities, innovate with process and technology, as well as establish performance metrics and drive accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish KPIs to balance and optimize daily required shipping deadlines, resource utilization, product quality and safety. Drive KPI understanding down to the lowest levels of the organization in order to set culture and expectations.
  • Be a growth-minded, but logical grounding fact-driven member of the senior decision-making team.
  • Analyze where the business can improve operations to meet rapidly increasing demand and sales goals.
  • Grow a team with nimble capabilities who can quickly adapt to a fast-paced business.
  • Create or continuously improve pragmatic processes which add productivity with low overhead. Seek and teach others to seek root causes to the most material problems.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, equipment and space utilization to fulfill production & shipping goals.
  • Collaborate with Online Analytics and Sales to align sales forecasts with reasonable operational capacity.
  • Manage costs and the operations budget, negotiate contracts with vendors where needed.
  • Partner with leaders of other functions across the parent company to creatively use all of the company’s assets.
  • Lead the investigation of quality & safety issues and act with a high sense of urgency.
  • Manage materials planning and final assembly planning, order fulfillment, quality assurance, inventory control and replenishment for all eCommerce fulfillment centers.
  • Engage and organize all your resources to ensure all orders are shipped on-time and are worthy of a 5-star rating.
  • Earn your teams’ and peers’ respect and trust, so they will buy-into and accelerate your change initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain an effective organization, including efficient recruiting, training, coaching, recognition, performance standards, delineation of duties and responsibilities, staffing levels and supervision.
  • Ensure site safety and compliance to all state and federal regulatory and labor requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of and manage the operation, proper use and potential implementation of operational systems, such as WMS, OMS and or multi-shipper system.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a minimum of 7 years of total relevant experience required with at least 5 years’ experience building & leading multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated experience running a complex, fast growing fulfillment operation (must have D2C and/or B2B fulfillment experience).
  • Literally Get Your Hands Dirty: comfortable in a fast-paced start-up environment where you’ll be deeply hands-on tactical one day and then strategic the next.

  • Expertise in MS Office, especially MS Excel including pivot tables.
  • Business Intelligence power-user: MS Power BI, MS Power Query, Tableau or similar.
  • eCommerce / Warehouse Management / Order Management / Shipping software experience.
  • Must be flexible to occasionally work weekends or early and late around key promotional and holiday sales, such as the week before Valentines, Mother’s Day and the weeks after Thanksgiving and before Christmas.
  • Exposure to warehousing equipment hazards and varying temperatures in fulfillment centers
  • Flexibility to travel to various fulfillment centers, vendor locations and company offices.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations or Supply Chain related field; MBA preferred.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
