POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Digital Strategy & eCommerce spearheads digital strategy/operations within the Commercial Transformation department. This team is responsible for enabling best-in-class B2B digital experiences to all customers within the digital commerce ecosystem (retailers, Sales Consultants, Sales Representatives, and suppliers) that currently served 142,000 customer accounts and generated over $2 billion in revenue in 2021.
Reporting directly to the SVP, Commercial Transformation and Digital Strategy, the VP of Digital Strategy & eCommerce will be responsible for enabling the company’s digital vision and roadmap through the build and operation of the digital ecommerce ecosystem. He/she will develop and adapt sales strategy for the ecommerce and mobile channels and define strategic operational vision to delivery to the ecommerce platform. This position will also require collaboration and vision for developing its own digital innovation portfolio. The VP will play a highly visible leadership role in developing, prioritizing, nurturing, measuring, and evaluating a number of strategic digital initiatives for the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a transformational and visionary ecommerce leader to develop new ways of working and improved processes to drive revenue growth online
- Own business development, strategy, and delivery for a $2B ecommerce business
- Implement customer touch points across web / mobile platforms and implement data driven prioritization of ecommerce feature improvements
- Lead, mentor and support a team of approximately 15 and serve as Product Manager (with SAFe Agile delivery) of ~100 indirect reports throughout the organization
- Manage a substantial budget and work alongside senior executive leaders to ensure goals are established, aligned, and achieved
- Work with brand partners to educate around digital integration, marketplace optimization and offer UI/UX support along with supporting procurement partnerships
- Work closely with Operations, Commercial Transformation, Supply Chain, and Service teams to ensure omnichannel ordering, delivery and customer service are seamless
- Manage product teams via agile delivery
- Collaborate promotional strategies to deliver on e-commerce sales goals
- Supports operations where needed to optimize fulfilment and delivery, customer service
- Develop customer performance metrics to capture both tactical and strategic feedback to improve and innovate experience at all touchpoints
- Achieve B2B e-commerce revenue goals and provides oversight for optimization and continuous improvements to meet those goals
- Work with Digital Intelligence teams to develop strategies, set objectives and ensure progressive improvement for customer acquisition, engagement, site traffic, and conversion rates
- Manage the implementation of scalable e-commerce marketplace model in partnership with third-party providers and external consultants
- Collaborate with thought partners across functions and divisions on better leveraging the company’s strategic assets for innovative value creation
- Conduct opportunity analysis and develop business cases as needed over time to justify targeted innovation investments
- Maintain a thorough understanding of digital disruption and how it could dynamically affect the company
- Co-create, nurture and measure proof of concepts over time
- Provide strategic analysis of the value of the innovation portfolio over time
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience in building and operating e-commerce business with a focus on B2B 5+ years in digital strategy initiatives
- Prior experience building and managing at-scale (high transaction volume) e-commerce platform in context of consumer goods
- Demonstrated online marketing (e.g., acquisition, personalization, and retention tactics) experience is a plus
- Must have proven success managing cross-functional teams and external vendors and partners such as agencies to accomplish goals
- Understanding of e-commerce platforms such SAP Hybris
- Understanding of CRM automation platform such as Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics
- Knowledge of end-to-end B2B digital needs – e-commerce best practices, EDI, web services, ERP, payment gateways, and complex pricing models
- Knowledge of e-commerce and web analytics tools
- Understanding of testing to improve usability and UX/UI for e-commerce tools, expertise in Adobe a plus
- Understands and conveys information about the latest e-commerce trends and innovations to company leadership
- Ability to be a very visible, credible leader that can influence at a senior level Ability to lead others through ambiguity to drive clarity of execution
- Ability to move effortlessly between strategic planning and tactical execution and gather organizational buy-in Strong interpersonal, leadership, collaboration, and project management skills
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and translate data into actionable proposals
Hybris, Salesforce, Adobe experience strongly preferred - Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills to drive effective collaboration and influencing within a matrix organization
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred
