POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP Marketing, the SEO Director is responsible for driving the company’s search engine optimization strategy and related results. You will develop innovative strategies that increase our client’s traffic and revenue from organic search. As a creative, dynamic, and detail-obsessed SEO expert, you will lead a team of scrappy SEOs, formulate and drive our client’s on-site and off-site SEO strategy, and act as the chief SEO advocate and educator. You will build an SEO strategy across our client’s eCommerce verticals, product categories, proprietary content, and user community.
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formulate creative on-site and off-site strategies that build sustainable and scalable competitive advantages for our client based on white hat content, site architecture, link building and keyword selection / utilization best practices
- Act as the chief SEO evangelist inside the company, creating internal training programs and processes that ensure that good SEO decisions are made throughout the organization
- Own third party relationships with SEO tools and platforms (Moz, Majestic, Conductor, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, etc)
- Lead an SEO team that serves our client’s multi-vertical businesses, helping each of your team members adapt your strategy to the needs of their particular category
- Design processes and train your team to take on SEO modeling, forecasting, analytics, research, site optimization, and reporting practices
- Own and manage traffic and revenue goals from organic search for the company as a whole and for each of our major businesses
- Define SEO technical roadmap for long term growth
- Partner with product management and engineering teams to define and write requirements
EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years direct experience with SEO initiatives / campaigns
- Specific experience with multi-vertical eCommerce retail preferred but not required
- Demonstrate excellent project management skills and can handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technologically savvy, and up to date on Internet and search marketing trends.
- Knowledge of technical aspects of SEO, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Flash, HTTP, URL structures, keyword analysis, content optimization, search engine spiders, indexes and algorithms, and other factors that can impact SEO.
- In-depth experience with Google Analytics, Coremetrics or another analytics platform to measure SEO success
- Superb communication skills, verbal and written, and are persuasive.
- Geek out on Excel and are fond of functions, vlookups, & pivot tables.
- Have a strong sense of urgency and the ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Have a strong affinity for customer centric marketing, and pride yourself on strong quantitative data analysis and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated leadership capability to build and develop a team
- Bachelors degree required in Math/Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science, Business or related field
