POSITION SUMMARY

With sustainable revenue and market share growth serving as primary objectives, the ideal candidate will be an accomplished digital sales (eCommerce) and marketing professional with a proven track record driving already successful online businesses to measurable new heights. S/he will be a strategic leader who is comfortable developing and implementing a clear vision for success across the digital sales and marketing ecosystem.
Reporting to the SVP of Sales, the eCommerce Sales Director is a mission-critical role with significant influence that will be tasked with providing strategic guidance to and collaborating with sales and marketing teams as well as key account point persons (category managers, merchandisers, etc.) in achieving the company’s stated business objectives. S/he will have extensive experience in and hold direct responsibility for growing digital sales by working with major retail partners and, to a lesser extent, selling direct-to-consumer through owned platforms.
KEY ROLE OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES
eCommerce Sales Growth and Key Account Strategy
- As the organization’s eCommerce sales leader, and in alignment with the company’s evolving business model, design and implement an innovative digital sales and marketing roadmap that drives sustainable sales revenue and market share growth across channels and key accounts.
- In collaboration with sales team, work with key digital accounts (Amazon, Wayfair, Overstock, Office Depot, Staples and more) to strengthen relationships and innovatively grow sales by presenting mutually-beneficial programs (e.g. specialized shipping, product bundling), merchandising and promo strategies and, ultimately, optimizing our client’s presence on the websites of each retail partner.
- Measure sales, margin, and market share against stated goals. Report on results, provide insights through forecasts and performance trends, and present recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor competitive landscape and develop winning approaches to differentiation.
- Monitor digital ecosystem to proactively identify and capitalize on new sales partners or platforms.
Digital Marketing Strategy and Campaign Management
- As the organization’s lead digital marketing strategist and subject matter expert, collaborate with the marketing team to set macro-level strategies that, when executed, will drive sales, increase market share, improve client satisfaction, and expand customer lifetime value.
- Provide marketing, content and design teams with strategic guidance and tactical tips as needed to optimize performance across digital marketing channels (social media, paid advertising – search, display, social and retargeting, CRM/email, SEO, etc.), as well as company (direct-to-consumer) and retail partner websites.
- Take full advantage of marketing, media, and merchandising programs available from each online retail (eTail) partner – e.g. AMS + AMG at Amazon and/or category promotions at Wayfair.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop, execute and measure campaigns aligned with stated business goals.
- As required, manage marketing spend against budget and in context of targeted ROAS / ROI.
- Work with leadership to establish marketing KPIs. Leverage analytics and testing solution(s) to measure, manage, and optimize digital marketing performance.
- Monitor digital trends to proactively identify and leverage relevant new marketing and merchandising tools, technologies, and platforms.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years’ experience in an eCommerce and/or Digital Marketing Manager or Director-level role with responsibility for growing digital sales revenue through online retail partners and/or direct-to-consumer platforms.
- Professional background in category or merchandising management for a major retailer (digital) are also highly valued.
- 3+ years’ experience developing and implementing strategic digital sales, marketing, and/or merchandising roadmaps in context of multichannel sales environments.
- Verifiable experience planning and executing digital marketing campaigns with a specific focus on social media (organic), content production, paid media (search, display, social, retargeting), CRM/email, and SEO.
- Experience managing retail eCommerce partners / accounts such as Amazon, eBay, Wayfair, Walmart.com, Target.com, etc. is strongly preferred and these candidates will receive priority consideration.
- Experience developing an innovation-based growth program with online retail (eTail) partners that leverages your ability to effectively network with influencers at and expertly take advantage of marketing, media + merchandising programs (e.g. AMS and AMG at Amazon) available from online retail partners is highly desired.
- Excellent analytical skills and verifiable experience working with such tools as Google Analytics (GAIQ preferred), Domo, Optimizely, etc. is required.
- Must demonstrate strong team management and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Must demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communications skills, paired with the ability to organize your work and continuously manage competing priorities.
- Must be an independent worker and self-starter with outstanding creative, project management, analytical, and organizational skills as well as ability to succeed in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
- Must be skilled in the operation of variety of software programs and productivity tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Electronic Commerce, or related discipline from an accredited university is required.
