POSITION SUMMARY

Our client, a “stealth” travel tech startup with global aspirations, seeks an innovative technology leader with prior successful startup experience. Our client has recently closed a $12 million Series A funding round and looks forward to kicking its existing exploratory (PoC) operation into high gear.

The role description, itself, has been left intentionally non-specific in terms of tech as you will work with existing executive leadership (founding CEO, COO, and Board Members) to more clearly define responsibilities, objectives, and enabling technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set the technical vision and engineering roadmap from concept to future platform; including incremental objectives to long-term goals and strategies.
  • Partner with cross functional-teams including Product Management to translate product vision into a deliverable roadmap.
  • Lead and drive delivery, providing visibility of progress and performance.
  • Effectively align teams and resources to achieve key business priorities on time and at the appropriate scope and highest quality.
  • Ensure all internal processes and external services comply with security and privacy policies and regulations.
  • Develop and rollout out an enterprise-wide information security plan to ensure security of all company assets and data.
  • Build an efficient end-to-end application infrastructure, with standard methodologies in software estimation and delivery.
  • Define and implement an effective, transparent and repeatable process for quality assurance across all areas of the organisation including product development.
  • Work with our talent acquisition partner to grow and lead a talented engineering team, developing the careers and technical capabilities of all team members.
  • Establish a high performing culture emphasizing innovation, growth, and development.
  • Identify, validate and manage collaboration with 3rd party services, vendors, and resources where required.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years in technology leadership role with at least one successful stint and/or 2+ years in a high-speed, results-oriented startup environment.
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, management information systems or related discipline from accredited university required. Masters degree preferred.
  • Extensive software engineering experience in a fast-paced environment and across technology stacks, frameworks, and platforms.
  • Strong foundations in service-based architectures and distributed systems.
  • Firm understanding of cloud-based infrastructure management.
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on development capacity as well as strategic and client-facing.
  • Proven ability to scale and build and lead large engineering teams from scratch.
  • Ability to lead team and drive high levels of engagement and performance
  • Relevant industry experience in travel industry technologies and digital businesses preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial, curious, hands-on and highly proactive behaviors are essential.
