Our client is looking for a talented User Experience Design Director to join their growing Digital Retail Solutions organization. The role will work collaboratively within an Agile development environment to create a holistic and brand consistent design strategy for the interactive commerce features of their core transaction site (from Search to Order confirmation) along with their apps and mobile website.

The UX Design Director is an innovative leader who will conceptualize, drive, and develop compelling interactive design initiatives that guide customers to explore, learn and purchase. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, partnering with Agile development teams, product owners and leadership to move rapidly from concept to launch, testing, and iteration. This person will ultimately translate business requirements and customer insights into a superior and compelling shopping experience for their customers. The successful candidate will be an energizing person, not only with their work but with their work ethic and style, with an ability to draw people together to share in ideas so that they feel they own it together. Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills are a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides creative oversight and direction for the interactive design team.
  • Holds individual contributor responsibilities aligned to Agile teams as necessary.
  • Uses facilitative leadership skills to drive to the best outcome for both the business and our customers – taking ideas and concepts and visualizing them in such a way that they are communicated effectively and compellingly for internal leadership, partners and customers
  • Applies strategic thinking to design to deliver innovative end-to-end user experiences that optimize user needs, business goals, and technological realities across web & mobile platforms
  • Partners with the UXD/Copy Manager to identify key creative strengths, opportunities and delegate tasks appropriately
  • Ensures that the integrity of the brand is present in all facets of the digital experience while supporting e-commerce business goals
  • Accountable for partnering with the Site Management and Marketing teams on the Digital Style Guide – Representing Retail Solutions.
  • Accountable for ensuring Brand integration and compliance for all relevant properties /platforms
  • Completes design reviews for Agile Teams to ensure continuity and quality of design are optimized
  • Works with creative teams (IXD, UX and Copy) to generate ideas for pitching proposals to help influence the direction of the website
  • Monitors and promotes industry trends that affect the company, ensuring that our creative product remains leading edge and ahead of our competition
  • Acts as a mentor and source for direction, training and guidance for the creative team

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of interface design experience in delivering high-volume, high-profile or award-winning web sites, and software or mobile applications.
  • Superior leadership and collaboration skills
  • Expert knowledge and experience with designing e-commerce digital sites, while working collaboratively with customers and cross-functional teams including development, copy and user experience. Seasoned in Agile development processes.
  • Proven track record in setting a vision for great customer experiences, inspiring others to get behind the vision, and ultimately delivering products and services that are known for their delightful experience and ease of use
  • Thorough understanding of the e-commerce business and ability to influence shopper behavior through interaction design
  • Exemplary ability to build positive, collaborative relationships across teams/groups/functions through facilitative leadership to deliver great results and to “raise the bar” continually as an effective leader of positive change
  • Organized, self-directed, efficient and able to manage multiple and complex projects in a timely manner.
  • Comfortable with presenting the team”s work and communicating a creative vision in front of large groups.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent organization skills and a proven track record in multitasking effectively.
  • Strong understanding of content strategy and appropriate application in design process.
  • Experience directing and mentoring junior level designers in the execution of concepts and projects.
  • A passion for creating digital designs and experiences that tell stories and resonate with customers on an emotional level
  • Ability to both influence and translate business requirements and creative direction into compliant web interfaces.
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one’s own team and across organization for the achievement of business goals.
  • Flexible in one’s viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at the company.
