ROLE SUMMARY

The Sr. eCommerce Merchandising Manager is responsible, both directly and by managing team members, for developing and implementing the merchandising strategy by applying visual merchandising, product storytelling, and analytics best practices. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and have a strong understanding of digital product representation, consumer shopping habits, onsite merchandising tactics and UXD that collectively drive sales and conversions.

This role will be the subject matter expert on the retail eCommerce shopping experience (including: UX, taxonomy, navigation, site-search, categories and filters, as well as CRO testing). They will manage buy planning, new flow of product, as well as many other eCommerce selling related tasks.

KEY ROLE OBJECTIVES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and review merchandise presentation on site to ensure the categorization, imagery, product knowledge, copy, tagging and pricing are accurate and meet brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing team to ensure optimal on-site “social proof” as related to product reviews.
  • Create, manage and review the email merchandise calendar to ensure the copy, imagery and test sends are accurate and meet brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the photo studio, marketing team and buying team on campaign initiatives, product features and content planning.
  • Create, manage and execute compelling product and seasonal stories.
  • Review competitor websites to ensure industry alignment with categorization, promotions and trends.
  • Prepare weekly and daily merchandising reports.
  • Drive consistent, daily maintenance of the online store and marketplaces and tactically execute on predefined merchandising strategies.
  • Manage the buy planning process for all categories, presenting thoughtful and analytically sound buy plans to management for sign-off.
  • Manage the open-to-buy document and process on a weekly/monthly/yearly basis, along with all corresponding KPI’s.
  • Leverage merchandising tactics and strategies to drive basket and traffic growth on eCommerce channels while also maximizing overall e-commerce margin and profitability.
  • Maintain assortment plans to track all product related activities.
  • Manage new flow process of products to the site, tracking and organizing all product assets to guarantee products are live in time for inventory to arrive.
  • Track inventory, communicating delays and shortages to mitigate business impact.
  • Send business recaps daily, weekly, monthly, etc., that include both product selling KPIs as well as Site specific KPIs.
  • Manage the creation and handoff of seasonal marketing briefs.
  • Partner closely with the Digital Marketing Director to offer best products and collections to drive successful campaigns.
  • Work closely with the photo studio to ensure approval, processing and publishing of all product images.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to forecast and plan traffic generating opportunities leveraging SEM, email, display, and digital ads.
  • Visit competitor websites and strategic product manager meetings to stay current with initiatives, trends, and opportunities.
  • Review and provide recommendations on SaaS solutions to increase conversion rate and sell through on both brand sites.
  • Work closely with A/B testing team to develop new personalization tested aimed at CRO.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, merchandising, or related field.
  • 5+ years in merchandise planning and/or buying (merchandise planning and product expert for the eCommerce channel).
  • 2+ years in managing direct reports – a bit more flexible (but must have management experience).
  • P&L responsibility experience a plus.
  • Motivated, dedicated, and reliable with commitment to achieving completion of tasks within agreed strict time scales.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent analytics, testing and conversion optimization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and frequent change.
  • Self-starter who works well in a demanding, fast-paced, and high-performance environment.
  • Experience working with Demandware (Salesforce Commerce), Google Analytics, Google Optimize, Google Data Studio, and Optimizely. Some work with Einstein AI in context of Salesforce Commerce Cloud preferred.
  • High level of comfort with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Google Docs, Photoshop and Illustrator.
